Emanuel Whittaker, a historic Greater Manchester construction firm founded in 1837, has announced its transition to an Employee Ownership Trust securing its future as an independent business in a move supported by Xeinadin.

Partner Michael Butt and members of the Xeinadin Manchester Team have assisted Emanuel Whittaker in ensuring the transition is successful.

The firm has played a central role in shaping the local infrastructure of Greater Manchester, from restoring social housing to delivering major regeneration schemes across the North West.

Clive Newton, Managing Director at Emanuel Whittaker, said: “This firm has always been about people and place. We’ve trained generations, supported subcontractors and suppliers and built real trust in our communities. Moving to employee ownership means those values don’t get lost.”

Xeinadin Partner Michael Butt commented: “Supporting Emanuel Whittaker through this transition was about more than financial structuring. We helped the business stay true to its values while securing long-term stability. For many SME owners, the challenge is finding a succession route that protects both people and purpose.
